Jason K. Nelsen has a broad practice that serves the needs of his diverse client base.  Jason has significant experience in all of the following areas: commercial litigation, corporate law, real estate law, real estate litigation, private placements of securities, medicare appeals, consumer and commercial collections, contract law, estate planning, probate, appellate litigation and commercial finance.  Jason’s clients include private real estate lenders, real estate developers, durable medical device suppliers, homebuilders, general contractors, subcontractors, payday lenders, dental offices, marketing companies, pest control companies, insurance agencies, mining operations, hunting guides, landlords, tenants, small businesses and individuals.  Jason is admitted to practice in both Utah and Nebraska*.

Professional Experience

Jason is currently serving as General Counsel for a large medical device supplier based in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Previously, Jason served as Assistant General Counsel for one of the largest privately owned real estate developers and homebuilders in the country.  Jason has also worked for a large regional law firm and a small local law firm.  Practicing law in these different settings has provided Jason with expertise and training that his clients benefit from.

Education and Honors

Jason is a graduate of Brigham Young University (B.A. 1998) and Creighton University School of Law (J.D., magna cum laude, 2001).  While in law school, he served as a Student Articles Editor for the Creighton Law Review.   Jason has twice (2005 and 2010) been named as one of “Utah’s Legal Elite™” by Utah Business Magazine.

Other

Outside of work Jason enjoys hunting, fishing and hiking.  He is fluent in German.  Jason is a certified firearms instructor and he is the owner of a successful small business that provides concealed firearm permit training in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and Washington.  Jason is also active in his community and currently serves as the cub master for a local cub scout pack.   Jason’s favorite activity outside of work is spending time with his wife and children.
